Yanika Ciantar was born in Malta in 1999. She initially studied Creative Media at an Advanced Diploma level and is currently reading for a B.A in Fine Arts at Malta Institute For the Creative Arts.
Her work is based on experimentation in abstract expressionism through drawing in mixed media, collages, and photography. Ciantar’s works explore music and the complexities of the mind, which allow her works to become expressive, dense large-scale drawings. Her creative practice focuses on the processes and techniques produced through gestural, and intuitive studies. Her works also range from figurative to abstract, depending on the subject matter at that time. Themes usually tackled by Ciantar include nature, movement, and the human psyche.
